His father was also unaware that his mother was pregnant while serving a sentence. Fisher was turned over to the state and was placed in an orphanage and was only supposed to stay until his mother claimed him when she was released from prison. SN Fisher’s mother never came for him. He spent two years at the orphanage, then when SN Fisher was two years old, he was placed at the Tate’s foster home. Mrs. Tate was the primary caregiver and he had two foster brothers named Dwight and Keith. There is no written medical record and history of his mother’s pregnancy. SN Fisher was physically, verbally, mentally and sexually abused from his childhood to mid-teenage years. Psychological Functioning SN Fisher seems to be an intellectual sailor as demonstrated by his ability to learn new languages, his drawing skills, and the ability to move up ranks in a timely manner. His cognitive thinking ability was demonstrated to be exceptionally high as evidenced by his clear and concise explanations of how his childhood and teenage years were polluted by Mrs. Tate’s abusive parental care. His memory and recall are good. There are major anger management problems evidenced by his fighting with shipmates, and disregard of superior rank when upset. His decision making abilities with peers who taunt him are clearly impaired to such a degree that SN Fisher is unaware on how to manage his emotions which often turns into rage. B. Emotional Functioning SN Fisher has no problems expressing his feelings about himself, and his foster parent. His relationship with Mrs. Tate was a total disaster even when he tried to connect and soothe her. After taking all the abuse at an early age, he finally came to a point where he needed to stand against her abuse resulting in SN Fisher leaving the foster home. He evidently wanted a person to confide with and reacted very well to the counseling session provided by LCDR Davenport. When the third meeting was coming to an end, SN Fisher wanted to continue with their weekly meeting. He admitted to the frustrations of losing and not being around the people that he trusted in life. C. Social/Behavioral Functioning SN Fisher demonstrated that he is capable of forming relationships as evidenced by having a girlfriend. He has the social skills to make friends with fellow sailors. His interaction style was mainly passive, but he does not tolerate any taunting from his peers and even from his superiors. SN Fisher does not have any substance abuse problem. D. Environmental Issues It is clear that SN Fisher’s future in the navy is contingent upon the outcome of his assessment, but SN Fisher refuses to talk. (2004), that a person permeate meaning into their lives, into the incidents they have experienced, and into the choices they have made, through the stories they tell about themselves. SN Fisher’s job will always be filled with interaction with fellow sailors who will constantly probe him with questions, taunting and jokes. His emotions are filled with sorrow and questions on why his mother never came back for him. It is apparent that he cannot manage his emotions as a result of frequent altercations. Belief was always there for man, especially a belief in higher power to explain away that which could not be otherwise explained. Over the long history of civilization many religions have risen and fallen. Such examples can be seen from the Egyptians to the Greeks, the Romans, and the Sassanids each having their own distinct culture and religion. It is then quite ironic that through the test of time, Hinduism, the oldest religion known to man, is one of the religions that survived to this day. What is also quite remarkable is the fact that it did not fade into obscurity but instead grew to be the world's third largest religion, practiced by millions of people, not just in India but also around the rest of the globe. Although no one really knows the exact moment that Hinduism was created, it is believed to have been around since 2000 BCE, gradually taking in external influence from the outside world. Although some claim that Hinduism is eternal and has always been around with the texts referring to four different ages, golden, silver, copper, and iron. Each being more and more morally corrupt than the previous until the current age of iron whereas in order to invoke the golden age once more requires divine intervention. Unlike other religions Hinduism was never such a systematic religion in the beginning, it was more of a collection of traditions of the people of the Indus Valley. The first real recognizable signs of Hinduism occurred with the migration of the Indus Valley tribes calling themselves Aryans, meaning noble ones, to the subcontinent where their culture came to dominate the region and their form of the religion to be adopted by most. However, there is debate on whether such a migration occurred, theories include the idea that no such migration occurred and instead the existent culture of the Indus Valley civilization in the region came to form the Aryan culture. Regardless of whether or not such migrations occurred what is known for certain is seen from the language and the excavated artifacts. The language of the vedic culture was called vedic Sanskrit and it was in this language that the Vedas or the sacred texts were written. All those who practice the religion recognize the Vedas as sacred texts. Hinduism is a very much cyclical religion, the way that they view time in a cycle is the way that they also view death and the afterlife or in this case reincarnation. Hinduism believes that the soul reincarnates after the death of its physical body and what happens to it is determined by the Karma that one has built in life. Unlike the common modern belief and misconception that Karma works in life, that if one has done something mean, it will eventually catch up to them, real "Karma is a concept directly related to the belief in reincarnation, an individual's karma (earthly conduct) determining the position into which they are born in the next life. Liberation from the cycle of suffering and rebirth ( moksha ) is the chief aim in life. Bedwetting (also referred to as nocturnal enuresis) is the involuntary passing of urine during sleep after the age at which bladder control usually occurs. It can be an embarrassing, frustrating and distressing problem that affects millions of children. It is more common than most parents think. Many children are dry at night by the time they reach the age of 5 but others take longer to become dry. When children still wet the bed when they are 6 or older, parents usually start to become concerned that their child may have some kind of physical or emotional problem. Some decide not to stress about it and give it time; others will seek medical advice, take their child to counselling or use alternative therapies. Once children go to Primary School and become aware that other kids of their age are dry at night they become embarrassed about it. Some children avoid going to sleepovers and school camps because of the fear of other kids discovering their problem. Teenagers are usually even more distressed by the bedwetting and many worry the problem will never go away. It often has a significant impact on their self-esteem. I decided to choose Bowen Therapy for Bedwetting as the subject for my Research Project because I have always had a passion for working with children. As a mother of two daughters and having dealt with toilet training issues I have experienced how upsetting and frustrating bedwetting can be for a child and their family. As Bowen Therapy is a wonderful holistic technique to promote physical and emotional balance, it is an ideal way to help children gain control of this problem. This research task explores the different causes and methods of treatment of nocturnal enuresis. It also outlines the anatomy of the urinary system and the nerves and muscles involved in micturition to gain a better understanding of how Bowen Therapy addresses this condition. I evaluated the effectiveness of Bowen Therapy on nocturnal enuresis in combination with dietary modifications as recommended by Mr. Bowen. It challenged the classical wave theory of light, which was the prevailing theory of the time.
